I was saddened by the passing of Stan Lee. I started this painting when he passed away and with the release of the Avengers Endgame movie, I figured this would be a good time to finish it. He had quite an influence on me. When I was young, my brother had the first edition Spider-Man comic book and I learned to read going through it cover to cover. (My grandmother threw it out along with lots of other first editions). I have drawn since I can remember. In middle school, I used to copy Marvel comic book covers - Spider-Man was a favorite. In high school, when i realized that I could capture a person's likeness, I took my paper delivery money and purchased "How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way". It taught so many valuable basics and no other art book has made such a dramatic influence on my drawing. It is well worn and started me on my way. In 2017 at the Boston Comic-Con my son and I got within 15 feet of him. A close brush with greatness. Rest in Peace Stan Lee. Excelsior!
